SELF CARE WHILE MOVING

Have you been stressed out since you decided to move? Are you finding that you are becoming anxious about every single thing that needs to be done? There are ways to eliminate this stress and make your move more manageable. This would involve taking care of yourself. This also means you will need to make self-preservation the number one priority in your move. Else, what good is your move if you are going to make yourself sick about it. Trust me, you can do this.




You are not alone in this “moving stress” syndrome. Moving naturally causes a disruption in your schedule and can discombobulate the calmest of us.


Here are a few tips to follow while in the process of moving to help you eliminate stress.

  • Keep your daily routine as much as possible

  • Start each day off with a healthy breakfast

  • Plan times and a menu for each of your meals throughout the day so that you are not leaving your meals to chance.

  • Avoid fast foods if at all possible. This does not mean you should not go to a restaurant or have a take-out meal occasionally. This would be different that fast food meals.

  • Drink plenty of water and healthy drinks (fruit, vegetable, smoothies)

  • Avoid too much caffeine, rather try to find your energy in fruits (such as bananas or watermelons); vegetables (such as greens or even sweet potatoes or yams); or nutritious drinks (such as coconut water or lemon water).

  • Schedule time for yourself, apart from the moving experience you are going through. Perhaps a walk around the block during the cooler part of the day or a few yoga exercises would be helpful in this regard. A relaxing bath with oils and candles would also be a great way to relax after a day of organizing for your move.

  • Don’t forget to include time with your family and friends. It’s important that you don’t loose touch with your regular lifestyle and this would include your time with your family and friends. Perhaps you could watch a movie with your kids or plan a walk in the park with a friend.

Scheduling Is an Important Part of Your Moving Process


A sure-fire way to avoid stress is to implement a schedule. All of the above would suggest that you need a schedule to keep your move and your regular life separated, especially if you want to avoid stressing out during your move. You are only human. It is not unheard of that stress takes its toll on you during the strenuous time.


While we have been talking about all various activities and eating properly and such, there is still one last thing you should put on your list: Rest. Be sure to have a proper amount rest. When a song is being written, it would not be beautiful if it didn’t include rests here in there. It is the silence in between the notes that create the beautiful melody we hear. So much more so for us humans. We also need to rest in order to be beautiful (in body, mind and spirit).
