My life story is important

Updated: Dec 13, 2019

Writing about your life story can be very therapeutic. Dementia and Alzheimer’s can rob us of our memories. It’s helpful to keep a journal to pass down to the younger generation of family members. Reflecting on enjoyable moments also recreates the memories over and again in your mind. A good movie that illustrates this is “The Notebook”.

“According to Debby Bitticks, there are 101 reasons to document your life story. These include: remembering the challenges and triumphs you faced on your life journey; an opportunity to analyze your past while gaining insight about who you are today; understanding how your experiences have influenced the path you chose in life; and becoming aware of ambitions or dreams that you have not yet realized.”
