Echo, echo, echo.....

Updated: Dec 13, 2019

Recently, I had the pleasure of working with a new client who is very interested in electronic gadgets, the newest and greatest thing. Dave had purchased a smart phone, had a tablet, enjoyed downloading music and was a frequent social media user. During the course of his move, he regaled me with stories of his younger years and his love of technology. I asked him if he had an Amazon Echo....he did not!

Lickety split I began to explain the benefits, both practical and frivolous, of this new device. Amazon Echo is the device that utilizes Alexa software. Using high quality voice recognition, the Alexa software will listen to your spoken voice command and perform various tasks. Here are a few of the various tasks that can be executed.

  • Echo connects to Alexa to play music, make calls, set music alarms and timers, ask questions, control smart home devices, and more.

  • Just ask for a song, artist, or genre from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, and more. With multi-room music, you can play music on compatible Echo devices in different rooms. Echo can also play Audible audiobooks, radio stations, news briefs, and more.

  • Call or message almost anyone hands-free with your Echo device. Also, instantly connect to other Echo devices in your home using just your voice.

  • New speaker, now with Dolby processing for crisp vocals and dynamic bass response. Echo can fill the room with 360° omnidirectional audio.

  • With seven microphones, beamforming technology, and noise cancellation, Echo hears you from any direction—even while music is playing

  • Just ask Alexa to check your calendar, weather, traffic, and sports scores, manage to-do and shopping lists, control your compatible smart lights, thermostats, garage doors, sprinklers, and more

  • Alexa is always getting smarter and adding new features and skills. Just ask Alexa to control your TV, request an Uber, order a pizza, and more.

These basic benefits descriptions are from the Amazon website. However, there are new voice commands being programmed for this device daily. You can even get a daily notification on your smartphone letting you know of the new and exciting features being released.

Setting up the device is extremely easy. You must have an Amazon Prime account to access many of the features, but this costs less than $10/mth. For those out there that enjoy the latest and greatest technological devices, this is a MUST HAVE!!
