On November 11, 1918 at 11 PM, fighting ceased in WWI. This day is recognized as Armistice Day. At Interiors for Seniors, many of our clients are from other countries and we often hear stories of this time period.
Many retirement centers hold some special events to commemorate Armistice Day. This year it was especially important as Armistice Day marked 100 years since the end of the First World War.
Several residents have parents, siblings or close family members who took active part in WWI, and many of them were active themselves in WW2, so they all have stories to share from their experiences. Everyone makes sure that this day is particularly memorable to pay our respects and commemorate this important occasion.
"It is a day of commemoration, an occasion to remember the some 8.5 million soldiers who died across the world during the 1914–18 war – as well as those lost in the conflicts that followed. But how much do you know about it?"
